Jaynee Beach I know a good number of non-religious folks who voted for him, as well. From my observation, they tend to be people who feel resentment toward non-white people for “coming up in the world” — they’re people who have perhaps always harbored feelings of racism, but not to the point of googling the closest klan meeting.

Also, have you watched The Loudest Voice in the Room, the series about the ascendance of Roger Ailes and Fox News? Fox’s selective and manipulative “reportage” played a huge, huge role in getting him elected. The people I know who are Fox zealots feel righteously, indignantly “informed” — but the information they hold is like the pig’s spleen, dipped in shit, rather than the whole butcher-carved carcas.
